Always wear gloves when you go outside in cold weather. Gloves protect your skin and prevent it from drying out and cracking. Once your skin is dry and cracked, it can be very difficult to heal. Wearing gloves ~ even if you're running outside for just a minute ~ will help prevent this from happening. However, if it does happen, we offer a Hand Treatment to help heal and soothe your skin. Add it to any facial for only $5.

Has the change in seasons got your skin a little dry and irritated? Furnaces are running and there's less humidity in the air this time of year ~ leading to dry skin problems. Here are some suggestions from LNSC to help alleviate the problem: * Dial down the water temperature. Hot showers may feel good in the moment, but they are very drying to your skin. * Don't decrease your water intake just because it's not hot and humid outside. Your body still needs plenty of water to function ~ that includes keeping your skin moist. |

If you want to avoid the flu this winter, it's time to start taking a Vitamin D supplement NOW. The days are getting shorter and the sun is not as strong, so it's not likely we will get our Vitamin D naturally from the sun at this point. Vitamin D is key for flu prevention. (We don't get the flu from a shortage of flu vaccines -- we get the flu when we don't have enough Vitamin D in our bodies). Start taking a supplement now and continue through the end of April or mid-May, depending on where you live. |

Your skin is your lagest organ, remember to treat it as such. Your skin needs to STAY healthy to keep YOU healthy. Your skin performs numerous functions every second of every day: It's a protective barrier for your internal organs; It keeps your insides from getting sunburned; It's the first line of defense of your immune system; It regulates your body temperature; It helps clear impurities from your body through sweat; It keeps outside toxins from getting in -- And that's just a few of the functions it needs to perform on a regular basis. |

Lavender essential oil is one of the few essential oils that do not need a carrier oil -- which means it can be applied directly to the skin. Lavender essential oil works wonders on mosquito bites -- one little dab should take the itch right out (if not, try a couple more dabs). It is also wonderful for healing burns. You can apply it directly to the injury or put it in a mister and gently mist it over the skin. It's also great for relaxing you to help with better night-time sleep patterns. |

Add organic sliced cucumbers, strawberries, whole blueberries, raspberries, etc. to your drinking water to add flavor instead of man-made, chemical additives. You will get the benefit of the nutrients in the fruit -- and some wonderful aromatherapy as an added bonus! Be sure to use organic -- you don't want to drink herbicides and pesticides!

Why not can and/or freeze your own fruits and vegetables? That way you know exactly what's in the containers (sodium, sugar, etc.). Look in your local listings for a You-Pick Farm in your area and pick them yourself. It's great fun and gives a sense of accomplishement to pick the fruits/vegetables yourself and then can/freeze them for later use.

Don't let cloudy, breezy days fool you: you can still get sun damage! Protect yourself with an all-natural, organic sunscreen. If you are unsure about the safety of your product or the ingredients, go to www.cosmeticsdatabase.com. Simply enter the name of your product or the questionable ingredient in the search bar. If you're going to put something on your skin, make sure it's safe for the inside of your body, too. It's always better to be safe than sorry!

We are having so much fun harvesting herbs from our little herb garden! If you don't have the time or the space for a full-fledged vegetable garden, small herb gardens are a fun and easy way to grow something green without taking up a lot of space or a lot of your time. You can put small pots indoors on window sills, outside on deck or patio ledges, or on a small patio table outside your back door. In our little herb garden, we have two types of Rosemary, two types of Oregano, Basil, Mint, Stevia, and a Mole Pepper Plant. |

Are you seeing seeing a lot of claims about products that say they can do "this" or "that" for your skin? Yes? But howsafeare they? Do you recognize all the ingredients on the label? (Can you pronounce all the ingredients on the label?) Are the ingredients natural and organic or chemicals and synthetics? Are you willing to eat the product? (If you're going to put it on your skin you should be willing to put it in your mouth.) Just because something may work "miracles" to take care of a trouble spot, doesn't mean it's safe to use. |
